Cascade Control Experiments of Riser Slug Flow Using Topside Measurements
نویسندگان
چکیده
Anti-slug control applied to two-phase flow provides a very challenging and important application for feedback control. It is important because it allows for operation that would otherwise be impossible, and challenging because of the presence of both RHP-poles and RHP-zeros. To conduct experiments on pipeline-riser anti-slug control, a small-scale slug-loop has been build. The loop has been modelled and analyzed using the simplified riser-slug model by Storkaas. The aim has been to find ways to control the flow using only topside measurements, as subsea measurements can be unavailable offshore. The results from this analysis and experimental results using a cascade controller are presented in this paper. Copyright c ©2005 IFAC

Original SPE manuscript received for review 24 July 2008. Revised manuscript received for review 11 May 2009. Paper (SPE 120040) peer approved 23 May 2009. Summary This is the second of two papers describing control experiments on a medium-scale slug rig. متن کاملInvestigation of Slug Suppression System in Deepwater Scenario
In pipeline-riser systems, pressure fluctuations which result from the formation of large liquid slugs and gas surges due to operational changes or low mass flow rate from production wells and the profile of pipeline-riser systems often lead to trips at the inlet of the separator; and thereby, the problem causes a a loss of the production. In this study, on a sample deep-water oil field off the ...
متن کاملComparison of Model-Based Control Solutions for Severe Riser-Induced Slugs
Control solutions for eliminating severe riser-induced slugs in offshore oil & gas pipeline installations are key topics in offshore Exploration and Production (E&P) processes. This study describes the identification, analysis and control of a low-dimensional control-oriented model of a lab-scaled slug testing facility. The model is analyzed and used for anti-slug control development for both l...

متن کاملSimplified dynamic models for control of riser slugging in offshore oil production
Elaborated models such as those used for simulation purposes (e.g. OLGA simulator) cannot be used for model-based control design. The focus of this paper is on deriving simple dynamical models with few state variables that capture the essential behaviour for control. We propose a new simplified dynamic model for severe slugging flow in pipeline-riser systems. The proposed model, together with f...
